GPX scope and history
GPX as a company started in November 1999. GPX transformed the idea - a system
for showing the origin of a certain amount of generated electrical energy -
into a patented concept. This concept aims to bring from the specific place
of origine the information of a certain amount of generated electrical energy
to a specific end user who is consuming the same amount of electrical energy.
It is a new concept in the market. And it is ready for the first stage production.
GPX modules are robust, compact, smart & intelligent. GPX presents a technological
tool to extent the clean production environment via the anonymous electricity
- in the grid - to the users environment. The module shows the origin of green
power along with the used power. It thus assures the user of consuming specific
energy exclusively. The assurance of the origin is approved by authorized body's
which are appointed by the national government. GPX is the assurance of the
supply of energy from the (hand- or automated) chosen source. The assurance
of the supply to the consumer by electronic means is approved by .... to be
continued.
GPX mission:
In brief:
we support the smart meter connection to proof to consumers about the connection
to the source, about the supply of energy origin.
The mission is to introduce, implement and support a new interface for renewable
energy sources to the energy consumer. The motive is to improve the freedom
of choice on how electrical energy is produced, and who is producing it for
trading to the consumer and the end user. We support transparancy in this choice
as such is wished, wanted or demanded by the consumer. GPX can be applied as
a personal solar energy consumption meter, controlled by a mobile telephone,
operating at the chosen range and class of sources.
1. a certain price level or (you pay GPXEnergy)
2. a certain availability programm (you get GPXEnergy).
GPX vision: to bring:
1. Freedom of choice for energy? mix your own! Portfolio: 1.
price 2. availability.
2. Tangible product opens door for the Kyoto protocol with TRC's REC's EECS
etc
3. Product connecting the (final) user to the place where the electrical energy
was generated (i.e. hometown, place of birth, etc).
4. New class of products raises awareness for more people to GO for green energy
by using the 'energy balance'.
5. Joining the Æ idea to led (yes, led
with a ;-D) wind & sun in the hearts of energy consumers.
GPX process
1. The first half of the process is the issuing of the "Guarantees of Origin"
(GoO). A GoO is issued to producers of a certain source. After this the GoO's
can be traded via (international) trading accounts. When a GoO is used by the
energy provider, a cancellation of the GoO is done in order to make sure that
the GoO can not be further traded. The second half of the process in communication
to the final consumer takes place with booking the "Evidence of Cancellation"
(EoC) against the "Evidence of Use" (EoU) in a peer to peer digital
transaction.
2. A stronger and alternative process is the connection of coded source-information
(containing source meter identification, production specific data, other specifications
and produced energy quantity) via an ICT system of the meter operator directly
towards the coded destination (containing destination meter identification and
consumed energy quantity), in which no GoO is used because of the more direct
transaction and in which the energy produced by the source is not presented
to any issuer to receive GoO's for trading or disclosure. In this situation
the metering company of the source takes over the role of "issuer"
for issuing and cancellation of the energy information supplied to the consumer.

presentation & downloads
A larger presentation
for multiple purpose was made in Powerpoint (file-size: 2.06Mb) in English.
A short presentation (in acrobat) in English
or in Dutch. For
Dutch speaking visitors there is presentation
in a series of sheets, with an overview of the features of the GPX plug-system
whith the chip-card, the original idea with which GPX started. In october 2007
we received compliments for this dutch
presentation (file-size: 1.12Mb). More recent presentations: [1
story board presentation] size 4.3Mb, [2
Presentation in Dutch] size 0.5Mb, [3]. In June 2010 for the project in
Peckham a small movie demonstrating the energy balance concept was made. It
explains how GPX works. The movie has been used in Peckham for perception analysis.

GPX investor relations
Investors are important for the right angle of development for GPX applications,
this page (in Dutch language) provides further

GPX
organisation
The shareholders
The start of the company was in Arnhem on 1 November 1999 by Mr Bouwhuis.
In 2002 Hugo Schönbeck, working for the business centre at "Van
Hall Institute", joined GPX for his knowledge on international law
and environmental affairs. Mr. Schönbeck brought in other partners. Grietien
Fortuin, founder of a new company "Field,
food and farmers" and at that time working for Van Hall; Luuk Dijkhuis,
Wim Terpstra and Theo van Balen, owners of a Dutch company for energy efficiency:
Technea , Go-Green
and The Energy Savingshop.
In June 2004 an agreement for co-operation on
exploitation of GPX was signed by the shareholders. In January 2005 a Limited
was raised to work from and to hold the intellectual property.
The stakeholders
Since 2008 GPX has held meetings with a number of stakeholders.
An example is given in this Dutch presentation: "in
balans met smart grids".
The founding of GPX
The company was formed in november 1999 by mr. E.A.J. Bouwhuis (details).
The GPX
Foundation
In the year 2009 a plan was launched to form a new foundation. This GPX
Foundation is a looking for a
fund aiming to visualize the frontier of sustainable new electrification in
the world on screen to GPX users. This is the plan
(at present only available in the Dutch language) for the GPX
Foundation. A perfect example
is this video
from India with a solar light installation (off grid) in Raigur India. However
it is only just one single example, we need many more of this, and to
connect so that these installations can be paid with help from the richer 'city-people'.
So if you would like to connect to this project right now, sorry then, it's
not possible yet, it's not measured by a kWh meter. But change
is coming.
GPX grid location
The company is connected to this electricity
network.
